Buffalo Rock State Park

Information- Was the home of the Illinois Indians.
- Area was once a French trading, military, and missionary post.
- Was also once used as a tuberculosis sanitarium.
- Crane Company in Chicago used the area as a vacation spot for employees in the early 1900's and eventually donated the land to the state with the stipulation that it become a state park.

Further Insights Buffalo Rock has some great views
of the Illinois River. There is a neat area at the farrest part of the trail by the snake sculpture thing.
It is a part of an old silica mine I think, basically a gravel pit with big trees in the middle.
Not natural, but it was scenic. There are actually two bison at the park to observe. It should be
safe to get close, since they are in a pen.
