Further Insights This park reminded me alot of Rock Cut SP. It has the dammed lake and alot of trails. Everything is easy to access.
I saw alot of northern water snakes around the lake by the boat launch area, awesome! I hiked a ways down by the dam and along the creek at the south end of the park, which was a very pleasant area. There were carp jumping up like salmon, trying in vain to get back up to the lake I guess, it was
somewhat amusing I have to say. I also hiked back on some other trails, there are campsites on them, so I guess backpacking is allowed. The day I went here I was actually going down to Starved Rock. I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention and missed the turn, ended up here. Overall, it's a nice place.
