Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve Interesting Information- There is a big paved path that was put in recently, personally I think the environment could have done without that. - - Location Rockford Size 1,094 acres TerrainAlong the Kishwaukee River and wooded, there are also large tracts of prairie. Trails 7.5 miles Links W.C.F.P.D. Site Further Insights This is a pretty large forest preserve with two access points. By Perryville Rd., there is a bridge across the river. I actually saw a bald eagle flying down the river valley here. Never would have expected that! Didn't get a pic though. Oh well, still very cool!
