Espenscheid Forest Preserve Interesting Information- The land was donated to the District in 1979. - - Location Rockford Size 60 acres TerrainForested along river and hilly in areas, some sort of swampy areas a ways back. Trails 0.5 miles Links W.C.F.P.D. Site Further Insights There aren't alot of real trails here. However, if you go left and towards the power plant and go down along the river you come to a really cool old train bridge. If you go across, its not technically Espenscheid, but there is a very big prairie restoration and swampy areas. Go down the traintracks and there are some backwaters with another bridge too. This area across the bridge is a neat place to explore.
